The front office began this year with 100 visitor and volunteer badges ... they now have 12.  PLEASE CHECK YOUR PURSE, CAR, BRIEFCASE, AND LAUNDRY BASKET for any badges that may have accidentally made a trip home with you!  Many thanks for all of your volunteer hours ... and for remembering to drop off your badge on your way out the door!
A Big Monkey "Thank You" to Our Fundraisers!

Thanks to the efforts of our students (with a lot of help from parents, friends, and parents' coworkers!), the 2013 magazine fundraiser brought in more than $4,200 for MPA!

Our top individual sellers included Mara Jane S., Elliot B., Angelina P., Madeline H., Kendall G., Peyton B., Ava E., Carter E., Aiden E., and Gavin W.  They all sold between $200 and $500 of merchandise - way to go!

Our top-selling classroom was Mr. Thompson's class, which sold more than $1,000 of items.  Janna J. was the winner of the $10 Mystery Monkey prize, and Mara Jane S. was lucky enough to win the $50 bill with her cash pick!

Thank you to all who participated, including those who sold 1 or 2 items.  A special drawing will be held for these students for a chance to win a Splat Monkey, Lanyard, or Collectible Monkey Keychain.  MPA is proud of our community's ongoing support, and we are humbled by your generosity.  We couldn't do what we do without your support and we want you to know how much we truly appreciate each and every one of  you.  Thank you!

Girls Retain the Lead in Box Tops Battle

The Minions can hardly contain themselves! It's Box Tops individual contest time. The child who has brought in the most Box Tops since the first day of school until January 10, 2014 will win 2 free tickets & 1 zamboni ride at the Monsters game on February 22, 2014. Along with helping your gender "rule the school" you also have a chance to win this cool prize! More details will follow about this Monsters game. This would be a good time to start calling relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers asking them to clip and save Box Tops for your child. Expired Box Tops do not count towards your child's total.

Update:
The girls are still ahead of the boys! As of October 10th the girls have sent in 2,610 Box Tops. The boys total is 1,577. The Minions apologize for not updating the 1st floor wall poster last week but they were feeling under the weather. Thanks to all of you who trimmed your Box Tops. It was a tremendous help and gave the Minions extra time to throw a karaoke party. Singing Minions everywhere!

At the end of October the Minions will have to ship all the Box Tops collected since June in order for MPA to receive a rewards check. Rewards checks are only sent to schools twice a year so it's important to send in as many Box Tops you have saved up at home by October 24th. Please send clipped Box Tops in a Ziploc bag or sealed envelope with your child's name, their teacher's name and grade. It would also help if you wrote "Boy" or "Girl" as some children have gender-neutral names. There is a collection bin on each floor at school. Please help us out by trimming the Box Tops as best as you can. The 5 minutes this takes you at home saves the Minions hours of trimming time.

MPA is also collecting:
- Labels For Education, which earns items for MPA
- Tyson Project A+ Labels, which gives MPA 24 cents per label
- Coke Rewards codes (on bottle tops and inside 12-pack cartons), which we use to purchase recess equipment

Browns Visit MPA to Kick Off Food Drive
Students learn about the importance of breakfast, and giving back to the community

Our thanks go out to the members of the Cleveland Browns organization who took time to visit MPA on Tuesday.  If you weren't on hand to see the event, you can see highlights from the event on the Browns' website here

This event was designed to promote the November 3-15 "ceREAL" Food Drive for the Cleveland Foodbank.  Schools earn points for all donations: 1 point for each box of cereal donated, and 4 points for each $1 donation.

At the end of the drive, the top point-earning school will select 100 students to go an an exclusive trip to FirstEnergy Stadium, Home of the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, November 26!

Watch this space in future newsletters to learn more about how you can donate to this worthy cause!
Want to get in some volunteer hours this weekend?
Speaking of the Browns, they have a home game this Sunday, 10/13.  The video from Tuesday's ceREAL Browns/FoodBank kickoff is to play on the big screen, so what a great day to be in the MPA stand!

Thanks to everyone who worked the last game.  Our gross sales were over $18k!  This is directly related to the fact that we had a fully-staffed stand.

For this week, we have 12 volunteers signed up so far.  We need 4 more to set us up for the best success.  Click here to volunteer: https://menloparkacademycleveland.bringit.bz/public/c464a5

All the details, as well as links to sign up for future games can be found on the MPA web site here.  Just contact our team lead, Chris Harrison, at 216.375.2117 or cjharrison68@ gmail.com, if you have any questions.  Thank you for your continued support of MPA!

Girls Rocket to the Lead in Box Tops Battle

What a week it was for submitting Box Tops for the girls! As of October 4th the girls have sent in 1,909 Box Tops. 1,269 of those Box Tops were sent in last week. Way to rally, gals! The boys' total is 1,226. The Minions are full of excitement wondering what will happen this week. Minion Carl wanted to give an extra "Ba ba ba ba ba Banana" shout out to Amy Z. who submitted 481 Box Tops last week and to Alex L. for having the best trimmed Box Tops a few weeks ago.

At the end of October the Minions will have to ship all the Box Tops collected since June in order for MPA to receive a rewards check. Rewards checks are only sent to schools twice a year so it's important to send in as many Box Tops you have saved up at home by the end of October. Last Friday the Minions received a large amount of Box Tops from the St. Mel's church collection bin. These Box Tops are still being trimmed and counted but once that is complete we'll let you know how either the Boys or Girls could win this total to add to their tally.

MPA Boosters are also collecting:
- Labels For Education, which earns items for MPA
- Tyson Project A+ Labels, which gives MPA 24 cents per label
