Spring Musical Basket Contributions
See link below for class basket themes
Spring is in the air! The spring concert will be held on Friday, May 3rd at Magnificat High School. This is a whole-school event and MPA is asking each student to contribute a NEW item (about $5+ value) to a "themed" gift basket to be used to raise funds at the event. These baskets have been very popular in the past because they are made up of items from our students and families.
Collection boxes will be placed in each homeroom starting on March 25th. Feel free to partner with another parent in your child's homeroom to contribute a bigger item. Items may be split into multiple baskets.
The deadline for contributing items is April 26th. We need 100% participation in order to make this a success. Thank you in advance for your support! For specific details on your student(s)'s classroom basket please *click here* As always, thank you for support and generosity!

Listen for the buzz ... All-School Spelling Bee will be Friday, 4/26
Haul out those dictionaries - qualifying rounds for the spring spelling bee will be held in classes this week, with winners for each classroom being eligible to participate in the school-wide spelling bee. Students who qualify for the school-wide bee will receive word study lists on Thursday, March 21st, and their parents will receive e-mails at that time with more information about the event.
Then on Friday, April 26th, the spelling bee begins at 8:45am in the Multi-Purpose Room. Parents, friends, and family members are welcome to come cheer on the competitors. Bring your cameras - there's nothing cuter than our pint-size spellers nailing words that are longer than they are!

Boys' Basketball Update
Go Wizards!
Who cares about the Miami Heat winning streak? The hottest team in basketball are your MPA Boys JV and Varsity teams and they are putting together a nice string of wins themselves.
Last Saturday in Westlake, the JV boys improved to 2-0 this Spring, defeating the Sonics 17-3. They held their opponent scoreless in the first half to lead 9-0 at Halftime. Fifth grader Jacob L. led the team in points (nine) and rebounds (seven) in the game. The JV defense has played so well over the first two games, in 56 total minutes, they held a team without a point for a stretch of 38 minutes.
The Varsity team also continues to roll, winning their third straight game 35-25 over the Knicks in a rematch from last week to improve to 3-1 so far this spring. Eighth grader Brian M. led the team in points (11) and rebounds (12) in the game. Also, Seventh grader Marshall M. scored a season high 10 points, including draining two three-pointers.
Come on out this weekend and support your Wizards as they try to keep the winning streaks going. This week's games are at the Lakewood YMCA with no admission costs and times are as follows (JV team is playing a double-header this week):
- JV Game #1 @ 12:00pm vs. the Cavs
- JV Game #2 @ 1:00pm vs. Sonics
- Varsity Game @ 2:00pm vs. Pistons
