Cold Weather Gear Time! Come to school prepared After months of mild weather, it's finally cold outside and MPA students will have outside recess unless it's actively raining or snowing. Science Fair & Invention Convention Updates
SCIENCE FAIR UPDATE! Science Fair will be held January 24th. All 5th and 6th graders plus all 8th grade Biology students will be participating. Other grades may participate as well depending on teacher choice. This week, 5th and 6th graders will be bringing home a packet that spells out in great detail how the project can be accomplished with a minimum of parent supervision and participation. The packets will be discussed in great detail in class as well. Students must turn in a project choice to Mrs. Eby by October 30th. When the project has the go-ahead from Mrs. Eby, parents will be asked to sign a form indicating their approval as well. Eighth grade Biology students have already begun discussing science fair projects in class. They have been given an orange packet that describes the steps to a successful project. It is hoped that many of these students will participate in more than one external science fair. A list of external science fairs will be posted on Mrs. Eby's website in the very near future. INVENTION CONVENTION UPDATE! Invention Convention will be held Feb 21st. 7th & 8th graders in Mr. Kiddey's science classes will be participating in Invention Convention. More information coming soon. Grades K-4 will be selecting one of these options to participate in. Look in the upcoming newsletter for your child's focus area. |

Girls still ahead by 1,100 in Box Tops Battle GIRLS - 3,152 BOYS - 2,007 Remember, the student who brings in the most Box Tops from the first day of schooluntil January 10, 2014 will win 2 free tickets & 1 Zamboni ride at the Monsters gameon February 22, 2014. Along with helping your gender rule the school you also have a chance to win this cool prize! More details will follow from the Boosters about this Monsters game. This would be a good time to start calling relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers asking them to clip and save Box Tops for your child. Expired Box Tops do not count towards your child's total. Please send clipped Box Tops in a Ziploc bag or sealed envelope with your child's name, their teacher's name and grade. It would also help if you wrote "Boy" or "Girl" as some children have gender-neutral names. There is a collection bin on each floor at school. Please help us out by trimming the Box Tops as best as you can. The 5 minutes this takes you at home saves the Minions hours of trimming time. MPA is also collecting: - Campbells Labels For Education: We just sent in more than 7,600 UPC codes for this program. Combined with the labels we collect throughout the year, this will allow us to purchase items to use for Field Day. Keep clipping those codes!
- Tyson Project A+ Labels, which gives MPA 24 cents per label
- Coke Rewards codes (on bottle tops and inside 12-pack cartons), which we use to purchase recess equipment
