Celebrating MPA Students

This week we're celebrating the performance of our car line volunteers (and participants!).  On Tuesday we had 103 cars in the afternoon car line, and our volunteers still managed to get all the students safely in their cars by 3:40.  Thank you, parents, for your assistance with making this afternoon tradition move smoothly and safely so far this year!

If you have a student who should be recognized in the Kudos "Korner" send your information here.

Volunteers Make MPA Successful!
Each MPA family has committed to 5 hours of MPA volunteerism monthly. As we improve our volunteering process, the first step is to find out interest and skills of volunteers. The Volunteer Survey that you received this summer is an important part of that process.
The Volunteer Survey will be retiring on Sunday, September 8th at midnight. If your family has not signed up to commit to volunteer at MPA you will be assigned to a volunteer team at that time.
The MPA community is one dedicated to enriching the lives of children. Each family's commitment to five hours of service a month make that an achievable goal. Thank you for your support.

School Day Support/Field Trip Chaperon Training

Parent volunteers make all the difference in our day to day operations.  Whether you are serving up pizza slices, teaching an elective, chaperoning a field trip, or leading an after-school activity, it's important that you understand school protocols and procedures.

To make sure we're all on the same page, this year we will hold MANDATORY parent training sessions for school day support volunteerto help ensure consistent communication and student safety.
Sessions will last approximately 30 minutes and will be held several times at the start of each trimester. The dates and times for these meetings are:
Monday, September 9 @ 9:00 am and @ 6:00 pm
Monday, November 18 @ 9:00 am and @ 6:00 pm

Walker Door
Help MPA Maintain Safety & Security

If you pick your child up at the walker door,
just a few reminders that will help us keep students safe:
1.  Please park on the street.  Having moving vehicles other than car line in the parking lot creates potential risks.

2.  Dismissal begins at 3:15 from the walker door.  Please wait for a staff member to open the door to release students.  Students should not be exiting independently.  We wish to ensure that the appropriate adult is picking up students at dismissal.

Your assistance in this process is greatly appreciated!
Dr. Sylvia Rimm Returns
Introductory Parent Meetings

Dr. Sylvia Rimm, Dr. Rakow, and Dr. Brewer will be on the MPA campus again this year to facilitate student group sessions on giftedness.  We are excited to be able to offer this service to our families.

Dr. Rimm will hold two informational parent sessions for families. At these sessions she will discuss the unique nature of gifted students and the parenting challenges. Dr. Rimm speaks nationally on this topic as well as others and has practical advice for parents.  New families are highly encouraged to attend.  Sorry, no childcare is available.
